Ladies Sheepskin Coats
Sheepskin is second to no other material for warmth and is the
perfect fabric for warm winter coats and jackets. Sheepskin coats are so
soft to the touch, and light enough not to weigh you down too. This kind of leather is
one of nature’s finest insulations – it will keep you warm and dry on the most wintry of
days. Sheepskin has great longevity when cared for correctly and, let’s face it, genuine
sheepskin jackets never go out of fashion. Ladies sheepskin coats
are the epitome of opulence and just look out of this world.
Some of the best fashion designers - Chanel,
Baily’s and Dolce and Gabbana - all produce a great range. Most coats are produced by
specialist sheepskin manufacturers, some of whom have centuries of family experience behind their expertly
crafted pieces.
If you invest in a sheepskin coat, you’ll need to
get a handle on how to care for it correctly to get the best out of it. A properly cared for sheepskin jacket won’t just last for this season or the next, but
decades; with a great deal of care, even a lifetime. Ladies sheepskin
coats may, on the face of it, appear to be an expensive purchase, but, if you break the cost down over the years
it will last you, you’ll soon see what a shrewd investment you’ve made in one of these timeless
pieces of fashion. You just need to take
a little extra care to keep it looking great.

Firstly, if your coat should get rain splashed or
if you get caught out in the snow, simply shake off the water then hang up your jacket in a well ventilated area
to dry. It needs to dry naturally at room temperature – no
placing it on the radiator and under absolutely no circumstances in the dryer unless you’re going for the
chamois cloth look! Similarly, the area you’re drying it in needs
adequate heat. If you leave your jacket out in a cold, damp porch, the
danger is that mould and mildew can get in and do irreparable damage. Enbound you hang your coat on a large hanger too – preferably on with wide shoulders to
help it to retain its shape. Once your coat has dried, use a soft
brush to gently brush the nap flat and remove any water spots.
Invest in a sheepskin suede eraser right from the
get go. These are widely available from shoe shops and cobblers. They’re cheap and can work
minor miracles. Should the worst happen and you get a mark on your coat, use the eraser immediately
(they’re even reported to remove ink marks). In a pinch, you can try a
regular pencil eraser (thought this needs to be a clean, white one – you don’t want to make a bad situation
worse by adding to it and making the mark worse).

You’ll need to get your coat cleaned by a
professional cleaner from time to time to keep it in A1 condition. Not only will this clean
away any marks on the leather, but it will leave a protective, waterproof coating to keep your coat safe and
sound in all the elements.
Sheepskin coats should not be stored in plastic
protectors. Natural fibres and plastic do not mix
well. Sheepskin needs to breathe and benefits from good air
circulation. If you do wish to cover your sheepskin jacket to keep the
dust off, we recommend using a cotton slip. By allowing the free flow
of air around you jacket you reduce the likelihood of a mould break out occurring and reduce the likelihood of
damp. You should always keep your coat hung up in a temperature
neutral place to keep it in tip top condition. You want it neither so
hot that it dries out and cracks nor so cold that the dreaded damp gets in. We're delighted to bring you a
